Backups for my central file server have historically been to a Hitachi 1TB hard drive purchased several years ago. While this drive was able to handle backups when the currently 2TB file system was brought online, the increased number of files made that disk obsolete in the current system. This hard drive was replaced with a Western Digital myCloud EX4, which in addition to providing file backups for the server also protect these backups in RAID 5 (currently three of four drive bays are occupied). This new backup provides for nearly 4TB of space for backups and copies, and can be used as a backup device for multiple file systems should the need arise in the future.
